Next stop on our whistle-stop studio renovation tour is our new Khooollect HQ front room and with it, so many brilliant features we don’t quite know where to start…

Despite the kitchen being the space which is obviously centre stage, our front room had a lot expected of it too.

This is the room where Founder Rachel Khoo needs to sleep when she is over here in London and where the Khoollect team will be working day-to-day. So not only does it need to function as an office but as a cosy, welcoming bedroom too – with all of the extras that both of those things brings, (we’re testing minimalism to its limits right now). But that’s what we have thanks to some amazing people with talents we can only dream. of

If you’ve been following along with Founder Rachel’s career, you’ll know that the recurring theme in all of her homes has been multifunctional space. Not just in her Paris flat but also in our previous HQ over in East London and that wasn’t going to change for this project. So for this space, we worked with the incredible Charlie from B Cabinetry to design bespoke storage spaces, including a fold-down bed complete with lamps, shelves and USB plugs, the cupboards you see below as well as that huge, totally moveable bookcase. Somehow, even with all of those cookbooks it manages to move from centre of the room to the inside wall to act as a room divider to make two smaller spaces whilst also having to cabinets that double up as desks when they’re down. Crazy, we know.

As there’s so much going on in this room, we needed it to have a calming aesthetic to soothe the madness of its everyday functions – not just visually but practically too. This is why we went with Wimborne White from Farrow and Ball (because white is never just white) and a classic herringbone oak parquet floor from Tom of Wood Floorers.

Maybe you don’t get as excited by radiators as we do – though knowing you all, you probably do – but there’s also our classic, effortless stylish radiators from Soak.com, that tie together the room.

The windows previously were single pane and were in dire need of replacement with a cracked panes and wooden frames which were drafty and all round not ideal. These were replaced with these Accoya Sash Windows from London Box Sash.

Love our studio as much as we do? You can now hire it for photoshoots! See our beautiful kitchen here and enquire for more details please email [email protected].
