There’s no more important place in the new studio than our Khoollect HQ kitchen for obvious reasons and this week we finally get to show it off to you all!

For Editor-in-Chief Rachel Khoo this kitchen has been a 15-year dream-in-the-making and having a modern country look with a typical R Khoo twist always her first choice. Even though it has already had its first shoot for her latest cookbook The Little Swedish Kitchen, things in the space weren’t quite as ready as we’d all hoped (read more about it here), so there were still a few tweaks to iron out from that shoot until this moment – but we’re here and isn’t it just stunning.

Rachel always had a pretty clear vision in her mind for the kitchen but we never imagined it would come off as well as it has, especially when you see what the space looked like before. We wanted more light to shoot and film, we needed more space to work and this is beyond any of our expectations.

It hasn’t been easy but we’ve had so many brilliant people who’ve helped us get to this point including the phenomenal deVOL kitchens; their timeless Shaker cabinets, open shelving, out of this world ceramic sink and detailing bring the whole room together. Combined with the custom made Little Greene Paint company colour and SMEG appliances, the whole piece is so striking.

Countertops were another easy one, although marble and granite are quintessentially classic kitchen tops we felt that nothing can beat that traditional, homey quality of wood and Retrouvius was the perfect place to pick up ours, especially with Lignum Carpentry fitting it.

Then there’s the tiles. We love a bit of pattern and colour but because the cabinets and beautiful Milagros kitchen tiles speak for themselves, we needed something more muted but still eye-catching for the floor and these slate tiles from Topps Tiles were the obvious option. One of our favourite thing about them is the fact they continue all the way outside into our garden, elongating the space and making use of every inch of what we have. And of course, none of it would be possible without Simply Extend and their months of hard work.

Then there’s this cabinet. Thinking about filling that beauty up with ceramics and prop-treats has become our happy place. And every kitchen needs a chandelier…obviously. But it isn’t just what’s in the kitchen that’s perfect, but what’s surrounding it and the bi-fold doors from Seciro bring the whole space together and are a complete game-changer when it comes to light.

We’ve still got a few bits and bobs to add to the space to make it a real home/studio but we’ll let you in on what those are when they come. Enticing enough for you all? We can’t wait to get back in here and formulate some cosy winter treats, so look out for more coming soon!

Let us know what you think of the space in the comments below, we’d love to know what you all think!
