Big Plans, Small Space Week Seven: Our Outside Space

***Rachel Khoo would like to thank all the inspiring people who helped make the Khoollect studio a hive of creativity. Never in a million years did we think we’d be this excited about a rough, dirty concrete floor, but it’s happened and we can’t escape the emotions.

Finally, after our little hiccough, we’ve got the main indoor space levelled this week and we feel like the whole project has taken a big leap forward. Now there’s just that small question of emptying the entire place of rubbish and some rather questionable looking mud into the skip. Meanwhile we’re resisting the temptation to stockpile all that wood for a yet unknown DIY project in our heads, which will probably never happen. But we digress…

We are starting to see the potential for the outside space a whole lot more too. Having any kind of outdoor area in London is an absolute delight but we never really made use of this garden before –  that’s not about to happen now.

The plan is to have the entire floor from kitchen to outdoors in continual tiling to make the whole space flow as much as possible. Just thinking about the events we can hold and the plants we can grow is getting us a new level of excited about the project. We love a bit of urban gardening and don’t even get us starting on outdoor lighting options…

There’s also going to be a lot more work done on the extension roofing this week so we’re as excited as you guys to see how that works out. Originally Editor-in-Chief’s Rachel Khoo’s plans were to have the whole ceiling as glass but as we’ll be filming in the space we’re trying out another option to control the light. More on that soon…

Make sure you check out our Insta-stories every Monday morning for a live update from the flat. For now though, we’ll see you next week for another update & let Simply Extend get on with their work without us and a camera in their way.
