Get to know Khoollect’s resident book reviewer Caroline Woodward-Court a little better, in eight simple questions…

What’s your secret talent?

I have a Grade 8 in musical theatre. I have the odd moment where I may enthusiastically take to the karaoke mic or the stage, but for the most part the singing stays at home. I am also ambidextrous but, rather than this being a liberating experience, it is just massively confusing to me.

If you were a fruit or vegetable, what would you be?

Hmmmmm definitely a sweet potato. I think they are mind-bogglingly delicious and so versatile. In fact, even just writing this makes me yearn for sweet potato fries, or soup, or mash…. As for fruit, it has got to be an apple, and the variety is Cox… and I would have to be accompanied by a slab of cheddar.

Which actor would play you in a film about your life?

Can it specifically be Emma Thompson in Kenneth Branagh’s film version of Much Ado About Nothing? Failing that, can I have Deborah Kerr? She could probably add some much-needed understated grace!

What would the title of your memoir be?

‘I am so sorry I’m late, I met the most charming person at the bus stop… and other stories’

What’s your pet hate?

Rudeness, it seems to happen more and more these days and it makes me rather sad. And ice-lolly sticks… they are my greatest fear realised.

What were your childhood hobbies, and do you still practise them now?

I was obsessed with stationery and writing lists… both of which I still do now; although I definitely suffer from ‘new notebook fear’. They are so beautiful and pristine, I simply can’t put words together worthy enough to grace the pages.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Sniffing new books. Peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches.

What song best describes you?

Simon and Garfunkel’s  The 59th Street Bridge Song.
