Whether you’re hosting a formal dinner party, a casual brunch affair or a small-scale supper club event, some finishing touches strewn across your tabletop can make a difference to the feel of your occasion. All you need is a little inspiration. Try these simple table styling ideas for any season:

  • Fun with foliage: breathe fresh air into the room with a little greenery. Take your scissors to the garden and scatter foliage down the table’s centre, or instead place a large leaf on each place setting for a natural touch. Work with the seasons and consider the scent of your natural decor.
  • Fruity, floral fiesta: for a vibrant spread, pop bunches of bright blooms alongside fruits: think leafy clementines in bowls, halved figs, pineapples as centrepieces or a grape-and-berry wreath-shaped salad for a Christmas party.
  • Simplicity by candlelight: allow your dishes to shine and your food to do the talking with a simple array of candles to light the way.
  • Vintage vignette: take a journey through your kitchen cabinets (or your grandmother’s) to find vintage props that’ll pretty up the table. Think biscuit tins you can fill with starters, tea cups at each place, vintage salt and pepper shakers, or old-school napkins for a touch of the granny chic.
