On a rainy morning in Kensal Rise, in London’s north west, commuters hopping off the overground can seek shelter, warmth and life-affirming coffee in the warm embrace of CableCo. Soft lighting glows over the cosy locale on Chamberlayne Road, where a happy (probably highly caffeinated) crew serve up a tempting assortment of hot and cold beverages alongside warming breakfast and lunch bites.

Seated by the front windows in a comfy booth, watching the rain fall outside, the Khoollect team imbibed Americanos, lattes and cashew milk hot chocolates lightly salted with Himalayan rock salt. Needless to say, we were fuelled for a productive day ahead. Although we opted for coffee this time, we can also recommend the delicious smoothies and cold-pressed coffee on offer (particularly on days when the sun’s out).

We may have over-ordered a little, but the selections on CableCo’s menu tempted our will power. Alongside our Jarlsberg-filled croissants, granola with fruit and yoghurt, and bean-cheddar-and-Worcester toasties, we sampled some of the cafe’s brand new items. The new energy balls made the perfect pre-work, post-breakfast snack. The team favourite was the Cocoa, Almond, Peanut and Date Raw Ball (made a little sweeter with a dash of honey and a desiccated coconut coating).

Those seeking an extra perk to munch with their coffees will also love the Nut Medley Raw Ball (with apricot, chia seeds, ground almonds, cashew butter and pecan) and the health-giving Breakfast Oat Ball with orange or mint (made with gluten-free oats, raw cacao, coconut oil, dates, a little salt, and mint or orange zest).

The real show-stopper, however, was the newly added acai bowl offering. This refreshing berry treat was served topped with fresh fruit and granola, and was the ideal end to our CableCo breakfast. It’s like having dessert for breakfast (only noone will judge you for it). Thanks to the team at CableCo for keeping the Khoollect team alive and revived for another day.
