Make the best out of chilly winter mornings with our favourite fibre-filled, protein-packed, ready-to-go breakfast: overnight oats! Make your overnight oat base the evening before by placing a handful of oats in a mason jar (so Pinterest!), enough liquid to just cover the oats (almond milk, yogurt or water will do the job), sweeten to taste and place your jar in the fridge overnight. Good to go.

Here are a few of our favourite variations to flavour up the classic …

Cinnamon and tahini

This life-changing flavour combination will have you rising and shining on even the coldest and darkest of mornings! Simply drizzle tahini on top of your overnight oats and dust cinnamon over to taste.

Peanut butter

We’d put peanut butter on everything if we had the chance and our overnight oats seem the perfect opportunity. Try out Minimalist Baker’s recipe.

Speculaas

A touch of Dutch! Add 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg, a small pinch of ground clove, ground cardamom and ground ginger to your overnight oat base. Sweeten with maple syrup to taste.

Chewy date and whipped almond butter

Need some almond butter inspiration? Look no further. Nutrition Stripped’s overnight oat’s recipe will make all of your almond butter dreams come true.

Caramelised banana

Set a nonstick pan to a medium-high heat, melt a little coconut oil and lay sliced pieces of banana onto the pan. Fry the banana pieces for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and top your overnight oats with the caramelised slices.

Orange and vanilla

An untraditional spin on your morning glass of OJ, check out how Green Kitchen Stories does it.

Espresso oats

Pour a brewed cup of coffee over half of your oat mixture, and almond milk over the rest. Leave to soak overnight and you’ve got your breakfast and cuppa all-in-one, ready to go. WIN.

Apple crumble bircher

Dessert for breakfast has never been a better idea. Cook Republic’s recipe is a healthy twist on the indulgent classic.

Carrot cake

Grate a medium-sized carrot into your overnight oat base, add a few raisins and a dusting of cinnamon, sweeten and it’ll be dessert – we mean breakfast – time in the morning!
