January should be used to catch up with friends over food, making each other laugh and talking about plans for summer months. Cinema supper club KinoVino, founded by Alissa Timoshkina has kindly given us two tickets to give away to the next exciting event: KinoVino Beirut with chef Bethany Kehdy, hosted on Thursday 26 January.
It promises a true experience of the vibrant Beirut city through cinema and food. What’s more, this special edition celebrates the brilliant female talent of the city through the work of actress/film-maker Nadine Labaki and chef Bethany Kehdy. Caramel, released in 2008, put Lebanese cinema on the map and gave it a female voice, while Kehdy’s food, revered by Yotam Ottolenghi, has opened our senses to a new kaleidoscope of flavours from the Middle East.
This giveaway is open to those with UK addresses only. Giveaway is open for the entire date of Wednesday 4 January 2017. Khoollect will notify the winner(s) within two (2) working days of the competition ending. Winner (s) must be able to get themselves to and from the venue on the date specified.

I say definitely tip no5 – creating your own menu in my opinion is what gives it your personal touch to a dinner party!

Alissa’s tip to think beyond the food is my favourite. Taking your guests on a journey can be challenging but leaves a good experience for all.

I like the idea of making your own menus. I’ve signed up to a calligraphy course later year as I think handmade menus look beautiful and add that personal touch. Menus can be kept as keepsakes – I always save them from weddings and conference dinners. There was a great display of old menus in the Food Museum (Borough Market, last year) – maybe one of Alissa’s ones will feature in a museum in years to come!

My favourite tip is Tip no 3 as for me we tend to forget that beyond the food it’s the whole experience that the guests will remember and cherish. The atmosphere, the colours and the laughter can make it a brilliant experience or an insipid one that even great food won’t be able to save.

I love the idea of thinking about the whole. Edible decorations adding to a theme and bringing in an extra layer of intrigue!

I completely agree about the table decor and whole atmosphere of the dinner party needing to reflect the menu and cuisine of choice, and all come together as a coherent theme and journey across the evening.

1. Research is the best tip for me. Looking at Insta/Pinterest can be an inspiration to expand your original ideas or try something new with a dish or presentation. There are so many creative and new ideas to be shared!

5. Make your own menu. Create individual menus for each guest that enhances their aesthetic appreciation of the table. It’s a really fun crafty moment of designing the layout and choosing the right font, shape and size. Also, menus are useful elements to guide the guests through the meal and make a lovely keepsake
