This week it’s the turn of Madeline Hall, a San Antonio resident who writes, shoots, talks, walks (and Instas) everything food. We caught up with her to find out a little bit more about her and her delicious recipes…

A little about yourself & what you do?
“I’m a food blogger, photographer, and recipe developer. I have a food/lifestyle blog where I share recipes and photography that are inspired by the seasons, my Filipino/American background, and travels. I also work for a food media company where I do some marketing and film recipe videos for them. As for life outside of the online world, my husband and I love to work on renovating our first home. We also have two pups who keep us entertained daily and always have us laughing.”

Where in the world do you live?
“I’ve moved a lot the past few years and went from graduating college in College Station, TXto moving to NYC for a couple of years and then living in Austin, TX. As of this summer, we have moved to San Antonio where our family is close by.”

One or more places you have to visit there?
“We have the Pearl – which used to be a brewery but is now renovated with lots of restaurants and shops. We also have the Riverwalk and the Alamo. My favorite thing to do here though is go to the nearby small Texas towns and explore the hill country, antique stores, and local restaurants/bakeries.”

What do you khoollect?
“Indoor plants!”

Favourite recipe?
“This is so difficult! I actually rarely cook from recipes but instead gather ideas from multiple recipes I read online and in cookbooks and usually just follow the general method of how to make them. I’m very bad at following directions.I guess if I had to choose something, I love baking breads and working with dough the best! I love making cinnamon rolls.”

Favourite book?
“Probably Jane Eyre. I love everything about that story.”

Favourite local coffee shop?
“Aspen’s Coffee. It is nearby and I often go there to do work. They have the friendliest staff and I love that their coffee shop is named after their dog.”

One item you can’t live without?
“My kitchen aid stand mixer! Haha. I use it nearly every week when baking and it just makes life so much easier.”

Perfect day off?
“Waking up with the sun, going to a park for a walk with my husband and our pups, then maybe getting coffee or breakfast somewhere nearby. The rest of the day would be spent walking around prop or plant shopping (haha..maybe not my husband’s ideal day) and then cozying in that night for a movie and snacks at home together.”

Who inspires you?
“My parents and grandparents. They all work so hard to pursue their dreams and provide for family.”

If you weren’t a food photographer/blogger, what would you be?
“Maybe on the interior design side, or having something to do with renovating old homes? I truly love what I am doing now though!”

Celebrity/icon you’d most like for dinner?
“Ina Garten! Although I would be extremely nervous cooking for her…”

Best advice you’ve ever received?
“My dad told me when I started college that it’s okay to not have everything figured out right away. Pursue what you are passionate about and the rest will fall into place. As you gain more experience and get your hands dirty you will find what it is you are passionate about and who you are supposed to be. I have always kept this in my mind and it is so true!”
