When moving to London, where everything is tantalising and new, it can be hard to know where to go. I spent hours on blogs trying to find places to eat, drink and be, and after many failures — and countless successes too — I finally found my favourites in a handful of places. My best advice for tackling London: explore area by area.

Clapton

Sandwiched between Stamford Hill and Homerton, Clapton has quickly become a trendy place to be. Over the past year, bars, cafes and little shops have cropped up and blossomed, making it a must-see spot for your travels.

Rootdown – Great for cocktails. Especially the espresso martini, using Climpson’s coffee.

Clapton Hart – A friendly pub perfect for a Friday night with friends.

Dom’s Place –  Delicious Turkish wraps and practically perfect hummus.

Blondies – Super cool bar with a good selection of drinks, live music and DJs.

Palm 2 – Mini family-run supermarket meeting all your organic, vegan and locally sourced needs.

Lions Coffee+ Records – A pitstop on my way to the old Khoollect HQ with friendly staff, vinyls and good coffee.

Kate Sheridan – An eclectic mix of Kate’s own work (well-crafted purses and satchels), speckled enamelware, and locally made bits and bobs.

Bad Denim – The coolest women’s denim shop.

Pages of Hackney – A bookshop like Pages always makes me smile.

119 Lower Clapton Road – One of my favourite coffee shops. Expertly made flat whites and a mountain of chocolate croissants.

Yard Sale – A tiny little pizza shop where you can sit in (very limited seating) or take away. The broccoli pizza is delicious!

Clapton Craft – Every mini community needs a bottle shop with a selection of beers from near and far. Perfect for stocking up at the weekend.

Little Ivy’s – Tapas bar and great for drinks too.
