Khoollect Explores: Paris for the food-obsessed

Paris-based food writer, podcaster and author of Tasting ParisClotilde Dusoulier, shares her go-to foodie spots and places to perch and relax around the French capital:

Top three foodie spots

  • Champeaux – for a modern brasserie experience.
  • Belle Maison – for excellent seafood.
  • Poilâne – for fabulous bread, and the butter cookies of my childhood.

Best place for coffee

I like Sylon, a craft coffee shop in Montmartre: cosy, kind staff, great coffee.

Best place for fresh produce

My favourite place to go is Terroirs d’Avenir on rue du Nil – they get heirloom varieties from small producers, and there’s always something quirky to play with.

Best rainy day hangouts

I take my children to the local library, which is inside a beautiful Hôtel Particulier – what used to be a private mansion.

Most beautiful outdoor space

The esplanade of the Sacré-Coeur at dawn, with a view out over the entire city.

Most chilled spot to spend a Sunday morning

Get some croissants and go to the nearest park with the kids. They play in the sandbox, I read a book. It’s quiet, it’s bliss.

Best nook for daydreaming

I like to go to the Musée de la Vie Romantique in the 9th, which has a winter garden. I like to sit there and pretend it’s my house and my garden.
