Bespoke wedding dress designer Susie Stone finds her fashion inspiration in the nooks and crannies, small side streets, galleries and museums around London. She shares her top picks for getting a taste of couture, style, and design through the ages and whetting her creative appetite.

1. Fashion and Textile Museum

The Fashion and Textile Museum is located in my home suburb of Bermondsey, which is one of my favourite places to visit for a fashion fix. Bermondsey Street is also home to The White Cube Gallery and a host of shops and boutiques to inspire your creativity.

2. Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A)

I adore the V&A; the building itself is stunning and there’s always fascinating fashion and design exhibitions on. A great place to waste a lot of hours.

3. Liberty, London

Liberty is one of my favourite department stores in London to get inspired – it’s a totally unique shopping experience. The historical building is brimming with heritage, yet offers a range of beautiful modern clothing, accessories, fabrics and more. Liberty curate their collections so well and always have something new in-store.

4. Barbican Centre

I could spend a whole weekend in the Barbican Centre. I know it isn’t for everyone, but I adore that 60s brutalist architecture and they have everything you need under one roof. Live music, a cinema, restaurants and a gallery – it’s my heaven.

5. Vintage stores

London has some of the best vintage stores in the world and if you’re willing to look you can always find some fashion treasure. Beyond Retro and Rokit are good for first time vintage enthusiasts, but I also love markets like Greenwich and Portobello Road – the best thing is that it’s a very sustainable way to shop as you’re recycling great clothes.
