Some days (hello Monday, we’re looking at you) a warming herbal tea simply will not do. On those days, the bustling Khoollect office is filled with the scent of freshly brewed coffee — keeping the team buzzing and ideas flowing. Regular Khoollect readers will know that the team likes to query contributors on their top coffee spots around the globe — really, any excuse to talk about coffee at work — and with our ever-growing list of must-visit coffee destinations from people in the know, we think it’s time we share their picks.

My favourite place in Leeds is a beautiful little cafe in the heart of the city called Mrs Atha’s.
Vintage mismatched crockery, a huge variety of tea and coffee that would perk up the dullest of Mondays!
(It also sells the BEST red velvet cake I’ve ever had, amongst an array of gorgeous cakes and treats!)

Sounds great Samantha…I’m always a sucker for a place with vintage decor and ceramics! You can’t beat tea served in fine china!

I loved Télescope too! But my absolutely favourite was Boot. So sweet and small and super duper photogenic.

Hi at Khoolect team.
For me I’m a tea drinker. Hot,strong and sweet.
But when I want a coffee, it’s to my percolator coffee pot. The deliberate process of water, gorgeous smelling coffee grinds, and placed on the stove at home is Belle deluxe.
Out and about – living on the Gold Coast, I’m from Sydney and visited Melbourne regularly, as well as recently in London then over to Paris. We have fantastic coffee here. In any variety, flavour, continent, milk… You name it. I didn’t visit those on the list in Paris- I found I drank several Esspresso a day there, lots of walking, milky coffee I was not impressed. Gotta say my fav… A little cafe in Mudgeeraba – Mujira it’s quaint, good people the coffee. Strong, clean, creamy.
Thanks
Kim.

Hi Kim, tea is a great alternative to coffee right?! I love coffee (so much!), but can only handle one strong espresso per day – any more and I become wobbly! Great to hear you make your own at home.

I love the laneways in Melbourne, and the huge amount of independent coffee houses that you come across. A great way to just relax and people watch. So good to see there are more and more independent coffee houses appearing in the UK.

Hi Tim,
Sounds great. I’m from New Zealand and STILL haven’t made it to Melbourne (I know, terrible!). We have a strong coffee culture in NZ to, so it was quite a shock for me to arrive in London and find that there wasn’t a coffee shop in every second building…but, like you say, it’s so great to see the cafe scene is starting to flourish.

Great suggestions for Melbourne, so I’ll definitely be adding them to my list when I go there next year : )
