If you stumble across East London’s Netil Market on a Saturday, you’ll be stunned by the relentless queue of hungry market-goers looking for one thing in particular: a Morty & Bob’s grilled cheese sandwich.
For those of us who haven’t got the patience for queuing, there comes great news – Morty & Bob’s owners, Charlie and Jesse, have opened a permanent home in Netil House (just a few paces from their market location).
The restaurant is a beautiful space, and well worth visiting – free of the hustle and bustle of market day madness – to sit down and devour one of their legendary grilled cheese sandwiches, some extra crunchy sweet potato fries, or even a particularly delicious carrot salad.
Transforming the humble grilled cheese sandwich into something magical is just one of Morty & Bob’s huge repertoire of culinary tricks. They’ve got you covered for every meal and every occasion. Breakfasts, cheesy lunches and even a Bloody Mary for the ultimate fragile-Sunday remedy. We sampled various delights from the menu – licking our fingers and forced silent in our enjoyment. Everything that passed under our noses was delicious and moreish.
As well as high quality food that leaves you thinking about it for days, the venue is relaxed and comfortable with beautiful and intentional design throughout. An easy going place for brunch at the weekend, a date night or even a 9am meeting over coffee.
