A humble gem in a cultural hub

East London is an area in a constant state of reincarnation. But despite the closing of the clubs, rising rent prices and creatives being pushed out of the capital, Kingsland Road and the surrounding areas remain a booming hub of British culture. A cultural cacophony like no other with screaming graffiti and banging nightlife. Look around for a short time and you’ll notice that it’s a struggle to avoid discovering something inspiring.

What you might not notice is a humble museum, sat quietly on the south side of the road as you arrive at Shoreditch. Head south, look to the left, and hidden behind a guarding row of bushes you’ll find The Geffrye Museum – an over-a-century-old institution that’s survived all the reincarnations of its locale, to provide visitors with an historic view of local lifestyle.
