Five Parisian places to inspire your creativity

Paris-based illustrator, food stylist and cookbook author Jessie Kanelos Weiner is about to launch her new project Edible Paradise: a Colouring Book of Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables. Jessie shares with Khoollect the five Parisian spaces, places, galleries, museums and parks in which she finds inspiration:

1. Palais Galliera

I love the recently reopened Palais Galliera, Paris’s beautifully curated fashion museum in a Renaissance-inspired palace. I used to work in costume design so it satisfies my geeky costume history itches. Make sure you go on a Wednesday or Saturday so you can have a Julia Child moment at the feet of the Palais Galliera.

2. Marché Avenue du Président Wilson

Don’t miss the vibrant Marché Avenue du Président Wilson for a fine collection of artisans, farmers and food purveyors. I go with my pack of dear food writer friends.

3. Musée Les Arts Décoratifs

When I need a little inspiration, another go-to is the Musée Les Arts Décoratifs – the decorative arts museum in one of the humongous wings of the Louvre. I love its rotating fashion exhibitions and its spectacular haute jewellery collection.

4. Jardin Tuileries

Don’t miss a walk through the Tuileries. Park yourself in one of those iconic sage-green chairs and watch the people walking by.

5. Bois de Vincennes

My final favourite place to get creative inspiration is at the Bois de Vincennes, an immense forest to the East of Paris where I live. When my eyes are fried and I desperately need some fresh air, I love having a destination where I still get lost.
