Twitter calls for reform as Toblerone split up

2016 has been a shocking year for international politics, especially in the west. Donald Trump is president of America and Brexit happened, all of this culminating in a strangely uneasy feeling that the world is splintering off and losing its sense of connectedness with the gap between segments of society widening.

Unfortunately for us, this has trickled down through all aspects of our world… including to one of the UK’s most beloved confectionery snacks, Toblerone.

Pop quiz: How many triangles are there on a Toblerone bar? Did you say 11? Sorry, from now on – you’re wrong.

Last month Quality Street hit the news with the announcement that it is removing one of its oldest sweets from the box and now the 11 triangle Toblerone has, too, been thrown in the nostalgia bin alongside the Spice Girls and penny sweets… and people are furious!

In light of post-Brexit rising costs, this week saw the iconic brand make the big change that the gap between triangles is widening. The shocking news has led to chocolate lovers across the land taking to Twitter to fire off their anger.
