Fresh linguine with garlic, sundries tomatoes and prawns
My favourite Italian meal is a bowl of hot fresh spaghetti tossed with butter, salt, freshly ground black pepper and a squeeze of lemon. It somehow tastes even better when my pastaphile daughter and I eat it together in front of the TV making appreciative noises. Pure heaven!
Caponata, a lovely aubergine stew with capers and olives
A gorgeous creamy Carbonara with ham and porcini mushrooms.
Garlic spaghetti aglio olio with prawn and extra chilli
Vitello tonnato -lovely in the summer al fresco with a glass of white wine and so adaptable as you can use pork or even turkey escalopes if you can’t find veal and it can be made in advance so what’s to lose?
Tagliatelle Mare e Monti, just delicious!
I can’t go past a delicious big bowl of chilli prawn linguini! Tomato based sauce preferred, it’s making me feel hungry just thinking about it!
Linguine with clams, a sprinkling of chopped fresh parsley with a squeeze of lemon eaten with a glass of Prosecco – delicious.

Spaghetti all arrabbiata! Yumi!
So, so many I love, but at this time of year with the cold weather starting to bite, a Venetian Pasta e Fagioli is my ultimate comfort supper – made with borlotti beans and flavoured with pancetta, wine and rosemary.
I love linguine with clams
Spaghetti tossed with garlic, fresh parsley, olive oil, beautifully sweet tomatoes and lots of clams!
My favourite Italian meal is whatever they were eating in that famous Goodfellas prison scene – the food looked nicer than any Italian meal I’ve ever had…ever 🙂
The finest Italian meal I’ve ever seen was the meal the Goodfellas had in the famous prison scene!
My favourite italian meal would be a beautiful mushroom risotto, with porcini stock adding richness and texture from mixed mushrooms lifted up by a hint of chilli oil and a touch of truffle.
If risotto is unavailable i would go for a steaming hot bowl of a spicy penne arrabiatta or any tomato based pasta available. When cooking at home i also like to pan fry gnocchi till its crisp on the outside and serve it as you would potatoes with a meal.
LOVE italian food x
I love a good bruschetta, nice toasty bread, lots of olive oil and garlic. So tasy and easy.
I’ve got to say I’m one of Emiko’s biggest fans on Instagram. She is a gem of a writer and photographer. I would love to win her books for sure. 🙂
To answer your question, my favourite Italian meal will consist of bruschetta with sautéed mushrooms topped with grated Parmesan and cherry tomatoes for starters.
Then spaghetti alla bolognese for the main. It’s simple but it makes my tummy very happy. Or I’d choose pan seared sea bass with tiger prawns and capers in a lemon butter herb sauce with mixed veg.
Osso Bucco
My favourite dish is Salmon with chilli and lemon linguine, with a good Pinot Grigio.
What can be ore warming than a slow cooked Wild Boar ragu with a rock, tomato and parmesan salad to pop the taste buds!
You can’t beat carbonara
arancini with ham, peas and lots of gooey cheese
It’s hard to say, but if I want to pick my favourite Italian meal in the summer – proscuitto and melon as a starter, aubergine parmigiana without tomato sauce, a giant green salad with lemon, salt and olive oil, and peaches soaked in white wine. All of this while wearing my wet bathing suit sitting in the sun.
Calamari fritti, every time!
When the cold kicks in I love italian pasta soups. My favourite – pasta e patate!
Spaghetti Carbonara definitely yummy
My ultimate fave Italian comfort would have to be a beautifully rich mushroom risotto made with porcini stock, a bite of creamy sharp blue and walnuts, it is always better though when my dear friend Emmanuela makes it.
My favourite italian dish is vitello tonnato. It is simple dish but full of taste. Veal slices are delicate and soft, sauce made of tuna is full of taste. Capres make this dish a bit salty. It is a perfect mixtures of taste, textures and italian ingredients. I just love it and I can eat it all day long
Spaghetti vongole.
Chocolate Gelato in Florence but when we were staying at Malvarina there was so much good food every night: multiple courses, it is hard to remember. I liked the sausages, the gnocchi, the beef wrapped sausages
Tortellini en Brodo
Tortellini en brodo!
Not sure it’s acceptable to class it as a ‘meal’ but Tiramisu has got to be my absolute favourite! I could eat it anytime of the day..
One of my absolute favourite Italian meals is the humble Parmigiana di Melanzane! It can be so simple, yet so incredible delicious. My favourite thing about it is that every household has their own take on it, whether they put hard-boiled egg, prosciutto or salami, it is memorable every time! (Follow it up with a Tiramisu and I am on Cloud 9!)
