I love poppies especially the wild ones growing in meadows. Such a simple understated flower but beautifully dramatic in colour and Very bee friendly
I love daffodils – the colour is so beautiful. Especially when you see large patches of colour after a long cold winter!
“I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;”
Iconic words for a beautiful, iconic bloom: This great poet captures the very essence of this flower. How it beams so brightly and stands so proud across our landscape. The daffodil makes our long, cold winters bearable knowing that come March time, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I love lilies – not only are they my namesake, but I also think they are the most beautiful flower. It is a flower that can be used in many different ways and whilst it is quite a showy flower it also has lots of wonderful meanings.
I would have to say lavender; an amazing colour, fragrance and taste! But most importantly, it’s not only a favourite of mine but bumblebees too. My dream is to have a special area in my garden just for lavender and other wild flowers so all bumblebees can collect nectar and make their honey.
My favourite type of flower is sunflowers. I love their bright yellow colour. I like them big, in fields as far as the eye can see. I love how they resemble the sun and how they turn to follow it. They make me think about a happy summer day, enjoying the outdoors with family.
Wild bluebells! I could lose myself in their sea of purple. Such delicate and fickle flowers.
