My spice drawer (s) are overflowing and I love to experiment, but I guess my most often used spices are cumin for some earthiness and sweet smoked paprika for the lovely smoky flavour this gives
My favourite spice is harissa!
Hi there. I’m from the Netherlands. Everything is quite ‘flat’ here 😉 so I’d like to spice up things with smoked paprika. But saffron seems nice to. Good for the soul? I only use it in risotto Milanese (until now?!).
I hope to get more inspiration from Mira.
Good luck with Khoollect!
As Vegetarians we love dishes like curries, Indian and Thai. We also love transforming chinese dishes into vegetarian dishes, and since I’m Peruvian I also try to cook some Peruvian food. The spicies I can’t live without are Tumeric, cumin, coriander, hot curry, chilli flakes, smoked paprika, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, garam masala, ground coriander. Literally, can’t live without them! 🙂
Cumin
My favourite is cinnamon, as I use it in different meat dishes and also in sweets. It is so versatile.
Smoked Paprika!
My favourite spice is ginger. I drink slices of it in water, put ground ginger into so much of my baking and finely slice it or grate it into lots of dishes to add zing.
Chilli, chilli and a bit more chilli, especially for sweet stuff – always like to be feeling a little hot 🙂
I like using smoked paprika, adds a great flavour.
I’m really loving turmeric right now not just for the earthy flavour but also numerous health benefits. I just wish my three year old hadn’t dumped half a jar onto the living room carpet, leaving a florescent yellow stain!
Turmeric has to be my go-to spice.
It would have to be the chilli pepper plant that’s always on the kitchen windowsill. Creating flavours in the kitchen is about giving. I would love to give Saffron Soul to someone and perhaps receive lip-smacking thanks.
It has to be Paprika for me!
I think if I had to only pick one it would be smoked paprika.
My go-to spices are hot pepper flakes, turmeric and smoked paprika!
Paprika – sometimes go to too much!! Thank you
Ooh i love so many. A particular favourite has to be Chinese 5 spice. It makes the whole house smell divine and tastes fabulous too.
My go to spice is fresh basil. I use it all summer long in so many dishes. I also like cumin and paprika.
I love paprika to add a bit of heat and smoke to dishes.
I adore fennel, it brightens up many of my dishes x
I am a really big fan of cinnamon. I just love the flavour and it’s also perfect in desserts.
Difficult to choose just one but roasted cumin is a firm favourite
So hard to choose but chipotle is probably my most used, in Mexican style dishes like chilli, black bean soup and adobos and even in some Asian dishes…it goes surprisingly well with soy and tofu! Borough market has some great stalls selling different chipotle mixes.
Paprika is my favourite spice to use. From spicy bean hotpot to fajitas and a coating for chips and wedges.
I chuck in crushed cardamom seeds whenever I think something needs a good ol’ boost! I’ve even crushed some into my coffee and hot chocoate before and it always sends me to a happy, satisfied place. It’s flavour without being hot and spicy – which means I can get my boyfriend to eat it too 😉
Gosh I use so many spices on a daily basis that it’s hard to pick a favourite! Smoked paprika and saffron would definitely make the top three but I think my go-to spice would have to be cumin. I use it both as whole seeds and ground in so many dishes.
I’d love to give the recipes in Saffron Soul a try and learn more about using spices in healthy Indian recipes.
Smoked paprika, I use it all the time.
Smoked sea salt, definitely a must if I’m preparing a vegetarian dish.
What I also love is to make my own mayonaise with a tiny bit of smoked sea salt and a pinch of smoked paprika. Then use it as a dip for home made rustic fries. Please do try!
Paprika, i use it a lot, i do experiment with a lot of spices, but Saffron is a spice i have never used so this book would be of great interest to me, to try some recipes
Cumin, it goes with everything 🙂 x
I seem to use Cajun the most. Some may disagree but I think it goes with and livens up pretty much everything xxx
My favourite spice is chilli!
My go to spice is cumin
Harissa is my favourite ♥
It has to be ras-el-hanout for me, it is so versatile, I use it constantly to spruce up chicken, lamb, esp lamb chops with salad for a quick midweek meal.
