Big Plans, Small Space: Week 14

***Rachel Khoo would like to thank all the inspiring people who helped make the Khoollect studio a hive of creativity. You’d think that after watching as many Grand Designs episodes as we have, we’d know that projects always, without fail, take longer than expected.

Well, the HQ renovation is no different and now we’re facing up to the reality that we won’t quite be finished for our initial target of the end of September. If you’re following on with Instagram, you’ll see why. However, that doesn’t mean we’re not making steps forward.

This week those steps were the roof in the kitchen and the bathroom walls. At the moment the kitchen (pictured above) is resembling something of a shabby Wes Anderson trope and we’re getting more and more fond of it staying that way and the bathroom is getting there.

You all know that the old bathroom used to be a bigger room at the back of the building but Editor-in-Chief, Rachel Khoo’s vision was to take it out so we could extend the kitchen directly onto the garden for a better space.

So now our miniature powder room is in a little space between the kitchen and the front room, ready and waiting to become our tiled haven. There’s nothing we like more than a good bathroom. Some of our favourite restaurants are made all the better by their toilets (we’re looking at you Honey & Co.) so and we can’t wait to get on with styling our own.

In the rest of the house, the bi-fold doors expected last week should hopefully be in place by Monday. We should also be able to show you a brand new floor and then the week after next, the most important part – the kitchen – will be installed.

Until then follow along with our Instagram stories every Monday for a live update and take a look through our Pinterest mind-space for more!
