The Khoollect team are proud to welcome members of the community from all over the world. Our new series is a bi-monthly introduction to our new and active #khoollectors, it gives us a chance to get to know them a little better. This week we chatted with Bhavesh, a lawyer and full-time foodie that loves travel and cricket. So perch wherever there’s a seat and get to know Bhavesh Patel.

Name:
Bhavesh Patel

Where do you live?
I live in the Cayman Islands. I moved here in April this year, and was living in London before then. My wife is expecting our first child so she isn’t moving until January to avoid any risk with the Zika virus, so I’ve been back and forth a lot over the past few months.

What do you do?
I’m a lawyer and a full-time foodie!

What do you #Khoollect?
Food! I love cooking and eating and uploading photos of culinary creations to Instagram. I also tweet about restaurants and food experiences whenever I can. I’m an avid traveller and post about experiences in foreign countries when I can.

What was your favourite post on Khoollect last month?
There was a forum discussion on the best veggie burgers in London, which I enjoyed, and also a recipe for Potato Pancakes with an Asian Pear Compote previously.

What’s your favourite snack?
Pitta bread dipped in either a really good, smooth hummus, or a home-made feta, roasted red pepper and sun-dried tomato dip (similar to htipiti).

Where’s your go-to hangout in your hometown?
In Cayman, either Karoo or Lone Star. London had such a variety of cool places that I would try to experience them all rather than stick to one, but some favourites were Bocconcino in Mayfair, Taco Mole near St Christopher’s Place, and Mamalan in the East Village in Stratford.

What’s the best cultural place in your city and why?
In Cayman, Stingray City is amazing – you feed stingrays while standing in waist-high water. London: there are too many to name but I always enjoyed the theatre districts variety despite the excess of tourists!

Who’s your favourite cultural icon and why?
Jamie Oliver – he represents the best of British culture through his love for British food and produce, efforts to improve British eating habits, and globalisation of the British food scene.
