It feels like January 2016 was just the other day, but somehow a new year has begun again. Time sure flies once you’ve signed a gym contract. Now it’s 2017 and you still haven’t found the time for that complimentary aerobics class.

New year resolutions may not be for everyone, but there is something oh-so exciting about setting goals and having something to look forward to in the year ahead. If you’re looking to make the most of 2017 but don’t know where to start, look no further. We have a few tips for setting and keeping your 2017 resolutions…

  1. Create a vision board
Visualisation is one of the most powerful goal-setting exercises you can do. Start by getting onto Pinterest to find images of outfits, quotes and travel destinations that represent you, circa 2017. Want to eat right? Stick up gorgeous pics of healthy treats. Keen to learn a new language? Collect those cheeky Spanish phrases. Put your vision board in a place where you can be reminded of your goals every day.
  2. Write it down
Set time aside to pull out that Moleskine notebook and focus on what you’d like to achieve in 2017. Write down your dreams for the new year. Keep the list as a reference to check in on throughout the year. You’ll be surprised to see what you end up ticking off.
  3. Keep it simple and specific
If your goals are big (and they should be!) break them down into bite-sized pieces that you can tackle daily. If you want to get fit, start by signing up for a yoga class. Achieving smaller goals will keep you on track and motivated. Remember to celebrate the baby steps.
