Vegetarians who’ve visited Paris will be all too familiar with the challenge of finding and ordering meat-free meals in the French capital … particularly if you don’t have a strong grasp of the language. Menu options can often be meat-heavy, with salad your only go-to option. To avoid eating dessert for dinner each night (although, we wouldn’t want to rule that option out completely), one of the best ways to eat well in Paris is to visit its fresh food markets and create your own picnic feast.

But, if you ever tire of noshing on bread, vegetarian-friendly cheeses and fruit, it’s reassuring to know there are nourishing, well-rounded eateries around town too. We asked for your favourite veg-friendly eateries in Paris, and here they are:

Rose Bakery, various locations

A British-style teashop, Rose Bakery offers a lot of great veg options, including salads, soups, pizzettes and more. They have three locations in Paris, so you’re guaranteed to find one nearby. Read more over at Time Out.

Verjus, 52 rue de Richelieu, 75001

Verjus, although not a vegetarian restaurant, is worth a visit for plant-based eaters. Call ahead to arrange a delicious vegetarian menu.

Ellsworth, 34 rue de Richelieu, 75001
