Rachel Khoo’s 7 foodie finds for Christmas

Now that the Khoollect HQ renovations are complete it’s time to get excited by the final finishing touches and what’s more exciting than a few kitchen accessories? Perfect timing with the season of giving (and receiving) upon us I say! Here are 7 foodie finds that would bring joy to any foodophile (and me!) this Christmas.

Christmas always brings a glut of gadgets you’ll probably never use but if there’s one gadget you should have on your list, it’s a decent kettle. What else are you going to use as an excuse to chinwag around while you wait for it to boil? Why go for an ugly kettle when you can have something stylish sitting on your stovetop and this is one of my favourites.

Like the perfect little black dress, there is such a thing as a perfect large pot and that is a heavy duty cast iron casserole pot. One you can trust to have a stew bubbling away on the stove for several hours, or pop in the oven to make a crusty loaf of sourdough bread. Pick a bright cheerful (or why not a moody stylish) colour so you can have it on display too.

For all those wannabe Great British bakers out there, a stylish dough scraper is one of the necessary tools you need in your kit. Obviously handy to scrape off any sticky dough on your kitchen bench but also to portion your dough! Which comes in useful if you like bread as much as me…

It’s hard to not to be pleased by a box of chocolates. The Biscuiteers are known for their beautifully decorated biscuits but also make delightful looking (and tasting) chocolates. Alternatively this library of chocolate bars would also go down a treat.

Not an absolute must but a fun and handy addition if you love your pizzas and bikes. This small model of a fixed gear bike is actually a pizza cutter. Making cutting a pizza as speedy as the cyclists on the last leg of the tour de france.

Last minute dinner guests, the quickest way to transform an everyday table into something special is with some good looking linen. Preferably the French kind, which is rusticly crumpled and most importantly, requires no ironing! With time these will become softer (wash and then ideally tumble dry to keep them soft) and have that vintage look like you host soirées every night.

This little brass mister is not only beautiful to look at but also a nifty little device to have to getting the puffy perfect choux buns. Spray your oven liberally with water just before you pop them in the oven. Obviously will make misting your plants ever so stylish (beats the plastic sprays anyday).
