A few years ago, my three sisters-in-law and their partners joined my wife and me (from England) in Burgundy for two weeks. They came from Australia, USA and Japan to meet up together for the first time in about ten years. For our last evening, my wife made a summer pudding using raspberries from the garden of our rented cottage, blackberries and black currants from the market in Dijon, black “mammoth” cherries bought from a Frenchman on the side of the road and wild strawberries picked on a walk up Mont du Telegraphe. Having grown up in the subtropics of Australia, the girls had never before had all these berries fresh – it was certainly a fitting end to our wonderful trip!
Key Lime Pie when I was in the Bahamas, it was devine!
My amazing dessert experience has to be eating Bougatsa in Crete.

Hello,
The dessert that’s blown me away has to be Persian Napoleon cake. Crisp layers of thin pastry, sandwiched between creamy ,thick vanilla custard and all finished off with powdered sugar and slivered almonds. Mmmm!

For me it has to me Alfajores! It is simply dulce de leche sandwiched between 2 small Argentinian cookies flavoured with lemon, vanilla, rum and coconut and more.
It is a staple in Argentina and is present in every stall over the country. But despite its simplicity, it’s such an indulgent treat. A comfort food away from home!!
Tiramisu in Venice for some reason it just tasted 10x better
The best dessert I have ever had was a key lime pie eaten in the Florida Keys, made with proper key limes! It was super tangy, limey, the “mouth feel” was just amazing, and not like the usual over sweet American desserts. I could eat some right now!
Hibiscus ice cream in Jamaica
The Crème Brûlée I had in Paris was out of this world.
My friend and I went to Istanbul last year and we were blown away by the sights, colours, smells and sounds. A beautiful Turkish Delight shop called Halis Bekrizade Efendi in Karakoy had the most enchanting selection of sweets, and the colours were a perfect embodiment of the colourful chaos of Karakoy. Their pomegranate flavoured Lokum was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten!
I once tried a very delectable traditional Turkish pudding. It was milky, sweet & full-bodied with hints of cinnamon. And my mind was indeed blown away when I knew that this fasinating dessert is made with shreds of chicken! Can you believe it! It’s called tavuk gogusu or ‘chicken breast’.. any food adventurers here? 😉
I had the most delicious Sorbet of Wild Blackcurrants
with hazelnut milk that tasted just like nutella at Restaurant 108 in Copenhagen. It was delicious!
When we were in Italy we had bbq peaches which were cut in half, stone removed and filled with marzipan, amaretto and dark chocolate – delicious!
My best EVER dessert experience was a Suspiro Limeño which I encountered while in Peru. It came served in a glass and consisted of a very creamy caramel-like custard base, topped off with lots of pillowy meringue that was perfumed with cinnamon and port- it was devine!

Sticky rice and mango in Thailand, I’ll never forget it. I’ve tried to recreate it many a time, getting close to making it perfect, balance hangs on the perfect mango!
Has to be baclava. First tried it in Greece as a child and loved it ever since. I even make it myself now – not quite the same as having it on a sunny Greek island though!
I went to Seoul, South Korea in 2013 and fell in love with the dessert bingsu! The summers in Seoul are humid and sticky, so many cafes serve this delicious food for a good price. It’s ice shavings, sweet condensed milk and other flavours such as fruit syrups, pat (red bean paste) and, my favouite, oreo. Oreo bingsu was so delicious and a perfect balance of chocolate and ice and it really kept you cool and sane during the blistering heat of summer! Really would recommend it.
VANILLA GELATO ICECREAM! I visited Italy a few years ago. Myself and my cousin both went into a small gelato parlour/restaurant. I ordered a simple vanilla flavoured gelato. And honestly it has never been topped. It wasn’t particularly expensive or anything but so DELICIOUS!
