Hello Khoollect!
I just want to share some of my mom’s crazy but effective health tips that she always remind me of doing. First the Turmeric Tea, every afternoon she takes a sip of that hot but smelly ( in my opinion) cup of tea. My mom said it kills a lot of bacteria in the body and also it is good for your clogged blood veins. She recently had an accident resulting to a sprained ankle, Her foot developed some varicose veins that are really noticeable. Now thanks to that smelly turmeric tea her ankle got better and better and the varicose becomes lighter. Second, vinegar to wash that itchy private parts of ours. (haha!), My mom was born on the 50’s and most her medicinal practices are natural, one time I had this really itchy feeling on my v*****, she told me to boil 2 cups of clean water, set aside to cool for a bit then add 2 tbps. of vinegar, I was like ” what!?”. but you know what guys, it works! just so happens that vinegar has a natural antibacterial properties, try it whenever you feel itchy down there. hope you like this unusual health tips from my mom!
What a wonderful book:) I love cooking. The best tip I got was : don’t be hungry! Eat when you‘re hungry. Do yourself a timetable with meals for every day what you‘re going to eat and when , like that you don’t get hungry. And don’t eat carbohydrates after 6pm.
Best health tip was to take a bath milk powder, you put dissolve the baby milk powder in the bath. And indulge in a milky bath, it makes your skin nice and soft
Best tip has always been cut down on alcohol, sugar and carbs and exercise more… Foolproof!
Funniest… I had a friend who thought sugar was a food group she had to tick off every day like when people have their ‘Five a day’…. 🙂
When cooking minced beef I add oatmeal. It makes the mince go further, healthier and it takes on all the seasoning flavour so you would never know. My Mum used to do it as we couldn’t afford much when I was growing up, always reminds me of her home cooking
The best would be to do yoga! It will improve every aspect of your life!
Hello!!!
One of the best tips I’ve received is to use the cooking water of the chickpeas to substitute the egg whites in deserts, when you need the texture of them whipped. It take a time to form peaks, but works.
My grandmother used to insist that eating raw onions cured colds and flu! I remember her telling me the more they made you cry, the better it worked! I’m not sure that they ever made me feel better, but certainly I was less contagious as nobody would come close enough to catch anything!!!
Hydration is key. ‘Have a glass of water’ my mum’s answer to most of my whinging on ailments when I was younger. I used to suffer from headaches a lot, this was because of dehydration.
Eat a piece of raw garlic everyday
One of the best tips I ever got, was to soak in an Epsom salt bath to remove the toxins from your body. This especially helps when you have sore muscles and are achy.
When it comes to our vegetables, their colour tells us a story and guides us to getting a good dose of antioxidants and nutrients! Darker, more intense green vegetables like kale, swiss chard and certain lettuces are more nutritious than pale greens like iceberg lettuce.
The pigments that make carrots orange, or beetroots purple, also indicate their antioxidant quality. There are many other examples that go to show us that – wanting a “bright, colourful visually appealing meal of vegetables” isn’t all about superficiality! It’s actually more nutritious for us.
Thank you for the giveaway KHOOLLECT !
Have breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and have tea like a pauper.
Lemon with luke warm water first thing in the morning.
Best health tip is powdered peanut butter!! LOVE adding it to banana smoothies with some cocoa powder and for subbing half out in recipes for peanut sauces and such
My scariest piece of health advise was when I was at school and I had a nosebleed. A teacher asked me if I needed an asprin….. I declined her offer as my blood did not need thinning any more!! She was well-known for giving an asprin for everything including rubbing dissolved ones on sprains and breaks…..this was in the days before health and safety!!
My best health tip was to give up sugar and processed carbs to stop my symptoms of low blood sugar. I felt so much better and have recently given up dried fruit (as I was substituting that sweetness….) and have lost some weight I wanted to shift and have more energy to exercise.
My best health tip is integrating good food and fitness into habits- like walking/cycling to work, or making breakfast/pack lunch the night before every day, having one less drink out. Then when it comes to it you just do the exercise or eat the healthier option because it’s easy! Small doable changes add up to great achievements.. before you know it it’s just part of everyday life ☺️ Plus congratulate yourself on every good thing you do instead of beating yourself up for not doing it. Accept you are human! Ps also do yoga, and enjoy food
My best and funniest tip is from my grandma in India – she swears by this – mashing up pomegranate peel and eating it for diarrhoea! It tastes horrible but it always works!!
Sparkling cinnamon over everything to keep blood sugar under control! Changed the face of snacking for me and helps control my cravings. Amazing how many different variations of snacks you can have with cinnamon involved. Tasty and healthy!!
My mum swears by her herbal medicine, you have a headache-take it, have a fever – take it, have a bad stomach – take it.
The funniest thing is….it kinda works! But it tastes foul!!
Hi!
There are so many wonderful health tips out there – drink ACV to make those gut bacteria happy, laying with your feet up against the wall after a long day helps you de-stress, celery juice every morning is a great anti-viral and anti-bacterial method for clearing eczema – but the one that changed my life now is that acne-skin is beautiful-skin and deserves to be shown out in the open as well. <3

I lived with some interesting Californians, who had some very interesting health ideas. My favourite was when I was ill, they told me to place onions on my skin, then wrap ontop with cling film. They said it’d suck all the badness out of my body, haha. I just smelt badly of onions.
I was told oil will grease my colon up and help me poop. The poop would literally slide out.
The best health tip is TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING IS BAD. Took me a long time to realise, but take everything in moderation!
Remember to wash beans before cooking!!
Less of the gas and bloating… haha
Best health tips I’ve gotten: have lime juice and warm water every morning to help clear up your skin and to eat fruit before a meal.
Hi Khoollect!
My mum used to say that jumping up and down would make me taller!! It never worked! My twin has always been taller than me and she still is! Also my gran always says to eat when you’re not even hungry so that you won’t get hungry!! I know! Takes a while to process that!
Drinking a glass of milk (not hot milk, but bolied and cooled) before bed , gives sound sleep. And its effective for Kids also , so less war before sleeping!!!!!
Don’t feat FAT. Make it your friend.
Don’t feat FAT. Rating Fat does not make you Fat.
My mum’s remedy for the cold and flu. 1 cup of black tea with 1 clove, 1 cardamom, a small cinnamon bark (half the size of your pinky), 1 small bay leaf, ginger root (1/3 the size of your thumb), 1 teaspoon of honey and a squeeze of a lemon wedge.
This is guaranteed to prevent and help rid colds.
Your welcome.
“All vitamin pills give you is expensive urine” – my mother the Registered Nurse, who eschewed all manufactured nutrients and instead decided to incorporate vegetables into everything she cooked (my childhood involved quite a few real chocolate-zucchini cake hours) and still get 3 kids to eat it. THANKS MUM X X
My funny tip given to me by my gran that actually works is- put onion halves around the bedroom when you have a cough/ cold- definitely helps but not sure why!!
My Nan always told me to eat my crusts as they’d make my hair curl- and they did!!! She also told me that eating all my veg would make me strong & she was right there too!
The best health tip i received was to eat healthy fats, and no ‘low fat’ foods.
I’ve a passion for health and nutrition and in the last few years I’ve most definitely overhauled my entire nutrition regime.
I no longer eat processed or refined foods.
I’ve gone from low fat to full fat products.
I have a nutrition high quality carb intake.
I am massively into prebiotic and probiotic foods courtesy of the Gut Health Doctor and following Dr Rupy.
I have read over a dozen books on Gut health in the last half of 2017.
I share everything I learn with my nearest and dearest who appreciate this eye opening advice.
I am a massive follower or Dr Mark Hyman too and believe in Functional Medicine and the role it plays, as well as Dr Ranjan Chatterjee.
Thank you,
Kunali
I’m terrible for snacking in the evenings. The best advice that I’ve been given to stop me from doing this is brushing my teeth. It puts me off eating anything as everything tastes of mint plus I don’t want to ruin the effects of getting them clean 🙂
Hi there Best tip I have received is a spoonful of organic cider vinegar with the ‘mother’. Helps with blood sugar levels
Hi! Funniest tip I heard had to be from a diabetic patient of mine who told me once to eat King Cake everyday cus it will keep me sweet 🙂
I have gallstones and whenever I get an “attack” I read that drinking 1/4 Cup apple cider vinegar will help dissipate it. It really works! ACV is great for digestion but it really helps to stop gallstone pain. It can be tough to swallow but muscle through it and then lay on your left side and it’ll go away!
Great photography as well!
Best tip: eating really good things made with the best ingredients and prepared with love and patience. You eat healthy, enjoy every bit of it and never gain weight!
@khoollect…my life was full of mums ayurvedic remedies growing up as a second generation Indian immigrant. What I initially thought was crazy hocus pocus has turned out to to gain some scientific backing when used in conjunction with western medicine …tumeric tea, ginger juice, fenugreek etc
Best tip was to crowd out junk food with vegetables instead of trying to cut out junkfood.by requiring myself to eat 6 TO 10 veggies or fruit a day, there isn’t much room after!
The best health tip that I have received is to never diet but to always try and eat as healthy as possible. You don’t need to feel bad if you can’t eat healthy all the time and you don’t need to refuse a treat if someone at the office is bringing something for her birthday. Just enjoy it and continue eating healthy afterwards.
