Weekend Eats: Autumnal Entertaining
***Rachel Khoo would like to thank all the inspiring people who helped make the Khoollect studio a hive of creativity. Although the Khoollect studio’s doors have now closed, you can keep up with Rachel’s newest adventures on RachelKhoo.com and on Rachel’s Instagram and Facebook pages – and, continue to enjoy the Khoollect website’s stories and recipes, which will remain available.***
Seasonal entertaining doesn’t just involve the ingredients, but the styling too. Fresh flowers and light linens in spring or layering and candlelight in the winter months. We took to the forest to create an autumnal dining series that normally we could only dream or Pin of. Teaming with Anthropologie UK, MUD Australia and the exceptionally talented Frankie Unsworth, we dug out our wellies and set to work in an enchanting woodland setting.
Frankie combined delicate blues with warm autumn colours, giving it a rich and warm style. Building was key to this look: chunky knit blankets, various sizes of ceramics, a mix of squash varieties and beautiful napkins. Adding a touch of elegance was simple with metallic sprayed pumpkins, gold rim glasses from Anthropologie and hand-written place cards.
On the menu we had three seasonal showstoppers: Pumpkin, rainbow chard and filo tart; Osso bucco; and Hazelnut dacquoise. Our hazelnut dacquoise is a modern twist on the original and was even topped with delicious praline – adding to the wow-factor of the menu.
It was a team affair, with Editor-in-Chief Rachel, helping out with styling and even camera assisting whilst Frankie fashioned a min-kitchen from the back of her car.
We rounded up our favourite pieces from the shoot over on Khoollect’s Facebook. Tell us your favourite autumnal recipe or styling ideas in the comments below!
